Online Gambling Law In Ontario
- The Ontario government announced it plans to legalize online gambling in its 2019 budget. TORONTO — The Ontario government is making it easier for residents to drink, gamble, or do both at the same.
- Accordingly, all gambling is generally criminalized in Canada (see section 206). After initially criminalizing all gambling, the Criminal Code, in the next section (s. 207), sets out exceptions. Activities which are provincially-licensed and regulated are deemed to be legal gambling.

This alleged grey area is muddled and confusing due to the complexity and freshness of Canada’s online gambling laws. In Ontario, the Ontario Lottery and Gambling commission launched their own site as recently as January 2015.
